Faye's January Biscornu

Wow! I am finally finished! This was so exciting for me. My first biscornu ever. I fell in love with Quaker designs a couple of years ago, so this was my first choice when looking for a design to stitch. This motif was pulled from the Beatrix Potter Quaker Sampler. I just mirrored one of the motifs so that it would work. I stitched it on 28ct salem cloth using DMC 814. Happy stitching everyone

Thank you to my Best Friend for your encouragement!!

Trillium's January Biscornu--2009

This is the center part of the "Icelandic Biscornu" chart from The Gift of Stitching digital cross stitch magazine. It is stitched on white Lugana.

I will post the designer and issue number later. I've had this finished for two weeks, but had to wait to upload it with a lot of other photos as my camera uses up a lot of batteries. My computer doesn't have a card reader.

Terry's January Biscornu

Well, I hope this works! This is the first time that I've posted to a blog..... I just started this a couple of days ago and just now finished it this morning on the 31st. So I hope it's not too late. This is a freebie that I had, and I went and bought buttons to go with it yesterday and I used Wildlfowers "Wildberries" to stitch with it as it's what I had in my stash. Thanks for looking!

PurpleTX's January Biscornu

and an introduction too.....

First the pic: My January item
I decided after a long hunt thru all the buttons in the house & two tries to attach them, that this little guy is cool for now with no dimple. - I'll see if it stays that way, or it starts crying for a button.

and now for a little about me....
I found this challenge project on Tuesday January 27th. I bought supplies that evening. I finished the thing this evening.
I have been thinking of picking the x stitch back up for a while now (just to do a biscornu) I am GLAD I have!!
I have known how to cross stitch since I was 11. I did a lot of small projects when I was in high school & just after. I have been thinking about small hand crafts that I can do while between phone calls at my job, and I decided that this is one I can work on again. (I had been doing a lot of crochet & hand sewing ornaments.)

All the projects I have seen that others have posted - y'all are GREAT!!

Rosemary's January Biscornu

Thanks Tracy for doing the monthly biscornu challenge. I couldn't resist this pattern with the cute cat. On the back is the back of the cat. I love patterns that do that. The light fiber is an overdye that went perfectly with one of my mom's old abalone shell buttons. The overdye gives it an antique look and the button has different shades in it too. I still plan on making a mini biscornu for a mini basket. I see I'm not the only one with this idea. :)

Sonda's January Biscornu

Here's my contribution for this month. It's from Hearts of Desire by Debbie Draper Designs. I stitched it with some silks from my stash and a random piece of white linen. After I started it, I didn't know if I really liked it all that much, but it has grown on me.

Jayne's January's Biscornu

My name is Jayne I live in the UK, thank-you for inviting me to join in the fun I love Biscornus some of these will end up as gifts but shall look forward to the challenge each month even if I only make one big enough to be a scissor keep. The pattern I choose has been a popular one this month it is off Matryosha's blog.
I used hand dyed fabric and Gloriana 12 strand silk wood pond 049 and decorated it with blue beads.

Hazel's January Biscornu

I know I know - it hasn't got a button on it yet!!! I need to get out to find a nice sparkly on ethat will match pref in pink! Anyway here is mine minus the button. I have decided that I am going to use Carries threads and DMC Jewel effects on my biscornus and I am using patterns from the french book "Repertoire des Frises". I am using up hand dyed fabric from my stash. This is Carries "Epiphany" and A pink Jewel effect. Can't wait to do the next one. xx

Antonina's January biscornu

It's freebee pattern by Nina. It's so sweet and close to my heart right a moment. I like snow, I like winter, so there is one more snowflake in my life - my new Biscornu. This one is the smallest Biscornu I ever done. Aida 18 navy, 1 ply of E168 and 1 ply of Blanc. It's

Kathy's January Biscornu

Hi all! Tracy, thanks for the invite to join the madness! I discovered biscornu in 2007 and have made two dozen already! Just in the last week I finished one from Sweetheart Tree called Cherry Blossom Biscornu, my first of the year. I have a log jam of other biscornu, both retail and freebie, in line to stitch. I think that this One-A-Month stitch-fest will give me the excuse I need to give people when they ask me "why another biscornu?" You can see my lot here on Webshots

Here's the Cherry Blossom Biscornu, which is a kit with everything you need but the stuffing!

Jeanne - January Biscornu

Hi! I'm new to the group, and this is my first-ever biscornu. I'm hooked :) and can't wait to get started on my February one!

Pattern: Alexandrina's Frozen January freebie
Fabric: 14 ct. aida
Thread: DMC

I chose these colors to represent smoke curling out of a chimney on a dark winter night.

Cheetah Biscornu

red ornieTo start my Basket of Biscornu I finished off a free chart, Cheetah Biscornu (part of a sewing set) from Cross Stitch Happy, which I had started earlier. When I messed up stitching the scissors case together I got very frustrated and put the whole set aside. You've given me incentive to return and finish the set, thank you. red ornie

I didn't join this challenge until late, so didn't get a chance to comment on each biscornu offered this month, I do want to say I took time today to look at them all, and boy are there some beautiful biscornu. Keep up the good work everyone. In February I'll make sure to stop by often and leave you comments on your hard work.

Claire's January Biscornu

Hi Everyone,

I've finished my very first Biscornu. Woo Hoo. lol
Unfortunately I can't remember where online I found the pattern. If anyone recognizes it and knows where it came from, please let me know so I can give credit for the design.

The colours I used are 747, 3043, and Silk N' Colors Aqua Clouds. I also added some beads that aren't part of the original pattern.

Thanks for this challenge, it's helped me to try something new.

Claire =)

Hi everyone hope you are all having fun stitching and trying to decide what design or theme to do next. Just a quick reminder that there are only 4 days left in January to post your pictures if you want to be included in the draw. There have been some stunning pictures already posted looking forward to seeing more. HAPPY STITCHING EVERYONE

Acereta's january biscornu

I am Irina from Moscow (Acereta) and here's my january bescornu.
Excuse me for the quality of the photo, the Aida fabric is sparkling (it has mother-of-perl strands in it), but on the photo it's impossible to see. The strand is Madera melange (2413), the design was not supposed for biscornu... I don't remember where I found it.

It's much better in reality!

Tomi's January Biscornu
